RLP is an independently owned company which acts on behalf of the majority of retailers
and supermarkets, regarding loss prevention, asset protection and civil recovery
proceedings. In addition to the retail sector we advise and assist other businesses
in the oil industry, hotel and leisure industry, bookmakers, car-parking, transport
and distribution. We engage in a number of town centre schemes incorporating local
business, transport and public houses.
Claims Department
We have a dedicated and specialised claims team, which is responsible for taking
initial case reports from clients. Each team member is experienced in civil recovery
proceedings and can answer queries from clients regarding the claims as they are
reported.
Defendant’s Liaison Department
We have a further team of civil recovery specialists who liaise with Defendants
in civil recovery claims. They answer Defendants’ queries and liaise with clients
as to such queries, collating evidence in liaison with our legal department. They
collect payments and set up settlements.
Legal Department
We have a legal team, with Qualified Solicitors (with Practising Certificates, and
who are regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority). The Legal Team and our
engaged external Solicitors include experts in civil recovery, loss prevention and
asset protection, risk management, civil and commercial litigation, civil law, criminal
law, data protection, enforcement, business law and PR and brand protection. Where
claims for civil recovery are disputed, the Legal Team and External Solicitors proceed
the claims, in the County/Sheriff Court where appropriate. They offer continuing
and updated practical advice and guidance and provide clients with monthly legal
updates on up to date topics. They prepare the contracts and service level agreements.
They constantly monitor the law, our systems and procedures. They also liaise with
outside agencies such as the Police, Retailers Against Crime (RAC), Crime Partnerships,
Youth Offending Teams and various support agencies.
Accounts & Administration
Our Accounts Team process payments and account to clients. They prepare reports
on accounting and statistics, monitor settlement plans, pursue missed payments on
settlements, provide tracing services, and prepare newsletters and bulletins with
the Legal Team.
Client Services Department
These staff liaise with clients from joining, assisting in advising new clients
on civil recovery and supporting new clients throughout the joining process, provide
training and advice upon joining, and throughout the ongoing relationship with clients.
They assist the Accounts Team in providing monthly, quarterly and annual updates
on all incidents reported, as well as ad hoc updates as requested.
IT Department
Our IT Team has developed bespoke comprehensive systems and solutions, for all of
our systems and procedures. Clients can report matters on line or by an IT interface.
Whether reporting via these methods, or by telephone and post, the information is
captured on our specialised bespoke database, case management and accounting systems.
For ease to clients, the IT technology provides for a streamlined reporting system,
whilst still capturing all of the requisite information and evidence required to
pursue a claim for civil recovery. They also produce bespoke reports from the collated
data, going back over a 6 year period, for clients requiring specific information
such as profiling wrongdoers, repeat wrongdoers, most targeted days/times of the
week. These types of profile reports assist businesses in identifying key risk factors
and identifying solutions to minimise such risks.
