Shoplifting in Scotland rose by 2% from 06/07 to 07/08 whilst all other crime was down by 10%
according to recorded crime in Scotland published figures September 2009

National Survey of Retail Crime & Security found that total shrinkage was equivalent to 24.1% of profit. It also found that employee theft accounts for 29% of all losses in multiples and 36% of losses within large multiples.

BDO's research also reveals that businesses are losing more than ever at the hands of their own workers, with the cost of employee fraud soaring by 200% since 2003.
